Customer testimonials for cafes and restaurants
People choose where to eat by looking at what others said about it. The customers who loved your place are standing at your counter every day. The only missing piece is making it easy for them to say so.
When to ask
- At the bill. The meal is over and the mood is good. Put a QR code on the bill folder or table tent.
- After a celebration or party order. Birthdays, anniversaries and group bookings are memorable. Message the person who booked, the next day.
- After catering or takeaway orders. You already have their WhatsApp number from the order. Send the link once the food has been delivered and eaten.
A QR code that does the asking
For walk-in customers you will not have a number to message. A printed QR code gives every person who scans it their own review page, with nothing to install and no account. Keep the sign short: "Enjoyed your meal? Scan to share a quick video or a few lines."
What customers tend to say
The most useful testimonials for a food business are specific: a dish they loved, how quickly the order arrived, how the staff treated them. The three questions on PraiseClip's recording page (what they came in for, what stood out, would they recommend you) usually produce exactly this.
Where to show them
- Embed the wall on your website's menu or booking page, where people are deciding.
- Link your public testimonial page from your Instagram bio and WhatsApp business profile.
- After a customer submits, they see your Google review link. Everyone sees it, whatever they rated you, which is what Google's rules require.
Publish only the testimonials the customer has agreed to share, and nothing you have edited.
A simple weekly routine
- Put the QR code on every bill folder or table, so asking costs you nothing.
- For event and catering orders, message the person who booked the next day with their own link.
- Once a week, open your dashboard and approve the clear, specific testimonials.
- Add the best one or two to your website and your Instagram bio link.
The aim is a steady trickle, not a campaign. A few new testimonials every week keeps your page current and tells visitors you are busy.
Mistakes to avoid
- Only asking happy-looking tables. Ask everyone. Filtering who gets asked, or who is shown your Google link, is against Google's rules.
- Asking staff or friends to post reviews. Fake or staff-written reviews are prohibited by review platforms and can breach consumer-protection rules.
- Offering a free dessert for a good review. Rewarding positive reviews specifically is not allowed by review platforms. If you thank people, thank everyone who responds, and say so openly.
Common questions
Do I need the customer's phone number?
No. A QR code on the table or bill lets walk-in customers open their own review page. You only need a number if you want to message someone directly.
What if a customer leaves a bad review?
Nothing goes live without your approval, so you decide what to publish. Use critical feedback to fix problems, and reply to the customer privately.
